Sunflowers

"Sunflowers"
16 X 20
Another wonderful reference from Vineyard Colors. My intent was to paint sunflowers for my soon-to-be-born daughter, but it didn't turn out very 'kid-like'. so I am going to try again another day for something more what I imagined. Even so, I really like this painting and how different it is from some of my other pieces. I shall enjoy seeing it on the wall while it waits to be claimed by someone!

"Jessica's Monet #16"

"Jessica's Monet #16"

Another Monet derivative. Can't seem to stop myself! It sold before the paint was dry. This was such a neat piece to do. How many more paintings can I finish before Baby Hooser #5 arrives??? guess we shall see!

This one looks like it belongs in a child's room. My daughter would probably agree due to her avid interest in horses. She would just want a horn added to it!

My reference is from Vineyard Colors. Enjoy!

Jessica's Monet #15

"Jessica's Monet #15"
16 X 20

I enjoy occasionally redoing a painting I have done before to see how my skills have improved. I don't look at my copy, only the reference so I don't affect my new work, but it is always so interesting to compare them when I am done!

Often it is my favorite pieces that sell right away and I don't get the chance to enjoy them on my wall for long; so it makes since to just paint them again!

Again, my reference is from one of Monet's pieces.

I had this need to get some sailboats up on my walls since most of them have been sold. My favorites are Monet's works, so I did some derivative work.

Here is one I also did a miniature of. It turned out cute, so I did a bigger one because I liked it so much.

Happy New Year!

I'm starting off the year with something a little different. Photo reference is from Vineyard Colors; one of my favorite places to get pictures to work from.

Hope you all had a great 2017 and are ready for an even greater 2018!

Commission

This was a commission for a friend. She has such lovely pictures for me to use. This made me think of the lake I grew up on back in Vermont.

For her, the significance is even greater. This is a memorial to her dad who recently passed away. I hope it brings back many wonderful memories they had together and keeps his memory alive for her two sweet girls as well!

"Joy of Horses 2"

:Joy of Horses 2"
20 X 20

Born from the enthusiasm of the first, the second followed once I convinced myself not to make any changes to "Joy of Horses". This also gave me the same enjoyment as I watched it appear on my canvas. My hands were all I used for this, no brushes. I feel like I have rediscovered the joy of my childhood!

Thank you to Cedar Grove Farm for the use of their photo as my reference!

"Joy of Horses"

"Joy of Horses"
20 X 20

Sometimes we need to let out work be play! Lately I have been experimenting more and more with finger paintings. These are paintings done entirely with my hands. No brushes.

I think I enjoy this method the most! It isn't as exact an art, but I think that is where my appreciation for it lies. I don't want to copy a photograph to the letter. I want to breathe myself into my works. I want to look at what I have done and be able to remember the joy I felt as it was created. I want to see my impact on each canvas especially when compared to its reference.

I know that this style will not be met with great praise from some, but I don't paint for others' joy; I paint for my own with the hope that others will see my joy and gain something from it.

Thank you to Karen Broemmelsick for the use of her gorgeous photo as a reference!

"Winter"

While playing around with finger painting on a canvas that desperately needed to be redone, this emerged. I used a reference photo my sister took from one of our Vermont winters. We loved the snow!
